This was an art performance to accompany the critically acclaimed art exhibition “SHE: Deconstructing Female Identity” in the Peckham & Shenkman Galleries of ArtsWestchester in White Plains, New York, from March to June 2016. “Her Stories” consisted of various multi-media performances by eight artists from different corners of the globe – performed simultaneously in different corners of the gallery.

The “Her Stories” art performance picked up on the thematic of “SHE: Deconstructing Female Identity,” focusing on the strength, wisdom and perseverance of the female human spirit. The imagery was derived from real accounts of the artist’s actual life, familial or cultural experiences.  Each artist deconstructed actual life events and reinterpreted them through their individual mediums: painting, video, music, poetry, drawing, sculpture, dance, spoken word and photography. The artistic group represented the commonality of the female experience, and the artists represented European, African-American, African, East Indian, Chinese-American, European Jewish immigrant, South American and other immigrant backgrounds. At the conclusion of the hour long performance, the artists gathered at a central table to share food representing their story, breaking bread together, as humans have done for millennia.
