Contemporary Chinese Zen Art Mediations

,

Four Chinese artists, three from the mainland and one longtime US resident and citizen, exhibited work of different mediums covering photography, calligraphy, ink painting and oil painting. The works had a common thematic of visual art that is used, either in the creative process or the viewing, as a form of mediation. Bibiana Huang Matheis met the three artists who were in the Hudson Valley as part of a cultural exchange. It became clear through discussions about the artistic expressiveness of each artist’s work, that all four artists were incorporating Zen thought, in some form, in their work. The combined exhibit is diverse and specifically suited for the space at the Hammond Museum in North Salem, New York. It is united by visual simplicity but it is never merely simple, by meditative thought, and by peace, serenity, love and passion. Bibiana curated and exhibited in this show.

“Contemporary Chinese Zen Art Meditations” is currently on exhibit at the Hammond Museum in North Salem, NY. For more information, please visit the Exhibitions page.
